Geometry isn’t just a class you passed in school—it’s an element of design you can embrace in every aspect of your home, from custom construction to the finishing touches like wall décor and furniture.
In today’s blog, we will be sharing a few of our favorite ways to incorporate geometric style into your custom home.
Have fun with contrasting shapes
We all love some coordination in our homes—but don’t feel the need to match everything! Some contrast is always favorable—between colors, textures, and even shapes.
Especially modern, angular spaces, for example, can benefit from a touch of roundedness in the form of a traditional flower vase, semicircle breakfast nook table or perfectly circular mirror on the wall. These small touches can keep any one space from looking too harsh or sharp on its own.
Splurge on small instances of intricate geometric designs
You don’t need a lavish wall display or modern art kitchen to employ geometric design in your home. Small instances of geometric art and design can make a big splash in any space. A kitchen backsplash with an interesting geometric pattern—hexagons in contrasting metallic hues, for example—or a living room rug dress up in abstract stripes can add visual flair, even to otherwise neutral spaces.
Take advantage of unique features
Another key design tip is to take advantage of the geometric features already present in your home. If you have a curved wall, for example, don’t leave it empty—dress it up with a tapestry that follows the natural shape of the wall’s surface. Even the square tiles that come standard on many homes’ floors can be balanced with the addition of circular nightstands or rugs.
We hope that these ideas help you enjoy a home design that’s uniquely yours!
