Holiday Happenings Near Your New Smyrna Beach Home

The holiday season is well underway here in New Smyrna Beach—and here, it’s all about pairing classic seasonal fun with the Sunshine State beauty that abounds just outside your front door!

Just read on to see a few of our favorite ways to get into the holiday spirit, without ever leaving town.

Watch your favorite Christmas movie outdoors

There’s nothing better than watching your favorite Christmas movie with loved ones by your side! Well—besides, maybe, watching it in the park surrounded by the beautiful Florida weather.

You don’t have to travel far for this kind of fun—it’s taking place right here in Venetian Bay on December 20th, starting at 6 pm. Everyone’s favorite holiday flick, “Elf,” is sure to elicit lots of smiles and laughs. Just pack your blankets and beach chairs to find the perfect viewing spot, and enjoy!

Hop on a holiday train

Holiday train rides may have seemed like the stuff of fiction—until now. The Polar Express itself is coming to Venetian Bay on December 15th and 16th, with the first train departing from the Town Center at 4:35 pm. Bring the kids along for the fun which includes hot cocoa, plenty of snacks, a reading of “The Polar Express” and a photo with Santa Claus himself. There will also be snow to help get everyone into the holiday spirit, and pajamas are optional!

Tickets are just $15, and can be upgraded to $20 for entry to the performance, “The Miracle on Main Street.” For parents to ride along, it’s only $5. You can pick them at the Spa at Venetian Bay. It’s sure to be one of the most memorable, immersive outings of your holiday season.

Craft one-of-a-kind keepsakes

What would a Christmas tree be without any ornaments? The best ones yet are the ones made by hand, and on December 20th, the Marine Discovery Center is offering you a chance to do just that! Head over from 11 am to 4 pm, and bring $5 to take part in the fun. Everyone will be able to decorate up to two ornaments using recycled materials, and shoreline finds like oyster shells and salt dough sea stars! It’s a unique way to fill up your tree with ornaments you truly couldn’t find anywhere else.

Take a look around you—the holiday spirit in New Smyrna Beach is hard to miss! We hope that these ideas help you enjoy a fun-filled season with family and friends.
